check out rose's webpage. it's all bright and summer-y. it actually makes you want to write nice, upbeat entries in your blog.
my congratulations to art as well for his smmittos. not really sure how he got the name for his website, though. i have to remember to ask him that one of these days. there are entries there that would make you stop and wonder, "how the hell was he able to remember all that???" nevertheless, go and read his blog entries especially if you're a sports fan like he is. not that his site entries are all sports-related. they are actually diverse and gives you a sneak preview of who he is. nice one, art! keep it coming!

inspired
people come and go in your life. some imprint a big mark in your life before they leave. sometimes, though, there are those who decide to stay.
aside from my family, my barkadas from school and at work, there are people who have been a significant part of my life journey. a part of this group are people who have inspired me --- to be a better student, a better friend, a better person --- not through any other thing but by being themselves. i would have loved to write their names here as my own little way of honoring them but i fear leaving out someone and make it seem that their impact in my life is less significant.
as i write this, i am thinking of each one of them. all i can say is that i am thankful that they have touched my life and i am sure that they are continuing to touch those around them as well.
you are my angels.

innocent eyes
rose and i met up at tower records before going to jo's party last saturday. while waiting for her, i browsed through the cd's in the racks, not really looking for anything in particular.
then there it was. delta goodrem's album, "innocent eyes". i had to stop myself from jumping and hollering with excitement. instead, i rushed to the cashier and bought the album immediately. mind you, this is not a usual thing for me. normally, i take a long time arguing with myself whether or not i would buy the cd. and by the time the person i am waiting for shows up, i could not decide just yet so i put off buying it and forget about it eventually.
i haven't had the time to go through each song (in other words, look up the lyrics, memorize them and sing along as i play it on my laptop). still, it has kept me company everyday from the time i bought it. i must look like an idiot bopping my head to the music or mouthing the lines from the songs while at work. i don't really care. try listening to it and you'll probably understand why.

when it rains, it pours

cheers!
i was talking to adam a few days ago when he mentioned guoliang.
adam: did you hear about GZ? (GZ is guoliang)
me: no, i haven't. what about him?
adam: he got what he wanted.
(pause... me thinking)
me: what does guoliang want?
adam: p-r-o-m-o-t-i-o-n
me: yahoooooo!!!
needless to say, i was ecstatic about guoliang being promoted. he was well deserving of the award. i saw how hard he worked and how good he was at what he was doing.
so when we had our barrier reef team dinner celebration, i was so excited to see guoliang again to congratulate him for a job well done. (plus the fact that we haven't seen each other for a while). the big man that he is, he just smiled sheepishly and said thank you. it has always been that way with people who are really good in what they do. they don't boast... they let their achievements speak for them.
so here's a mini-toast to guoliang...
(raise glasses)
to the person who has given so much of himself... here's to more goals being reached and more dreams being realized. congrats, guoliang!

summertime
i have always loved the water.
when i was three years old, i almost drowned because i couldn't wait for my uncle and i jumped into the pool myself. bad idea.
when i was seven, i decided i wanted to learn how to swim. my parents enrolled me in ymca makati and every session was a little piece of heaven to me. i didn't stop there. right after my basic swimming, i asked my dad to enrol me in the advanced classes. my classmates were more competitive and were better swimmers than i was. but i didn't care. the fact that i was there in the pool was enough for me.
recently, i was able to go to boracay. i have wanted for so long to go there but i didn't have the money to do so. good thing for company offsites, i was able to get a glimpse of boracay without shelving out too much. the sand was white and so fine, you would rather walk on the beach barefoot. it's nice feeling the sand through your toes as you explore the beach front and enjoy the sights. i wasn't able to swim at the beach though, since there were a lot of seaweeds. a normal occurrence at a particular season, i was told.
though i had only one day to enjoy the sights and activities with my offsite teammates, my co-workers and my office friends, i say the trip to boracay was worth it.
as if i really need to have my fill of the beach, i went to puerto galera the weekend after that. i was actually leaning on not going but i gave in to the prodding of my friends to go. puerto galera was the place where i did all the activities boracay did not permit me to -- snorkelling, swimming and just lounging by the beach.
next destination --- palawan?

what about me?
from shannon noll's single...
"...what about me, it isn't fair
i've had enough now i want my share
can't you see, i wanna live
but you just take more than you give..."

some things are left unknown
from the song, "not me, not i" in the album innocent eyes by delta goodrem:
"...it's hard to find the reasons
who can see the rhyme?
i guess that we were seasons out of time..."

a tiring weekend
it's been a long working weekend. staying in the office is fine by me but until 10 pm on a saturday? c'mon! and that is over and above staying in the office until 11 pm the day before that. and a few hours more on a sunday. but then again, i can't really complain since it's part of my job. and i like my job. and having a smooth cutover makes up for all the extra effort and lost sleep. now all i need is a good cup of coffee... :)
